I started by cutting a fish template out of cardstock (depending on the age of your kiddos, you could cut out the fish for them, or you could let them trace the template and cut out fish themselves). Once the cardstock templates were cutout, we glued on colored construction paper to the face, tail and fins.
At this point, we set the cardstock fish aside and began cutting some fish scales out of an old magazine. I used an old HGTV magazine because I knew it would offer a bright color pallette, but you could use any magazine you have access to! Once we had a good pile of scales cut out, we used a glue stick to glue them onto the fish. It is important to start gluing scales on from the tail, so you have a layered effect that is moving towards the tail of the fish.
When we were done putting scales on the fish, we added a googly eye, some little lips and some glitter glue to the fins and tail! They turned out so cute and colorful, they were the perfect addition to the craftwall!
Happy Monday!
