Party Game: Psychiatrist

Let me begin by saying - I am not crazy about the name of this game! It is a ridiculously fun & funny game, but I don't love its name! Bearing in mind that the name is all in good fun, and totally not intending to mock, here is how you play:

Assign one player in the group to be the 'psychiatrist' while everyone else plays the 'patient.' The psychiatrist must leave the room while the patients pick an ailment - the patients all have the same ailment. I usually write down (or print out a few ailments) and put them in a jar or a bucket for the players to pick out of. Make sure every 'patient' is clear on the ailment. Then, invite the psychiatrist back in the room. The psychiatrist will go through all of the patients and ask them each a different question. The patient will answer the question based on the chosen ailment. The psychiatrist 'wins' when they are able to identify what the ailment is.

This game is definitely better suited for an older age group, but I love it because it works for a pretty large group. I love that everyone feels involved and part of the fun! It is hilarious to take part in but also just to watch! :)

Here are some examples of ailments for the patients:
- Answers questions in alphabetical order (meaning patient 1 would use an answer starting with 'a', patient 2 would use an answer starting with 'b' and so one).
- Stuck on the last question (meaning patient 1 would answer the questions, but patient 2 would answer the questions that the psychiatrist asked patient 1. And patient 3 would answer the question that the psychiatrist asked patient 2...).
- An obsession with a letter or a number.
- Answers the questions as though they are a celebrity.
- Acts super paranoid.
- Acts like a circus performer.
- Acts like a stereotype (jock, valley girl, nerd...).
- Everyone mirrors the exact motions of the psychiatrist.
- Everyone touches their face after they give their answer.
- Everyone thinks they are a super hero.
- The players cross their legs when they are telling a lie and uncross them when they are telling the truth (the patients would intentionally lie occasionally).
- The players on either side of the patients being questions get itchy.
- Everyone time traveled here.
- Whenever a player says 'um' every patient changes positions.
- the players have to use a color in their answer.
- the patients can only give one word answers.
- the patients really don't care (a whole lot of whatever's!).
- everyone answers as a Disney character.

Here are some example questions that the psychiatrist could ask:
- What is your favorite color?
- How old are you?
- What time is it?
- What did you do today?
- What did you have for lunch?
- What are your favorite kind of shoes?
- How do you like to style your hair?
- Where do you live?
- What are your strengths?
- Are you a good cook?
- What do you do for work?
- How often do you travel?
- What do you like to do for fun?
- Do you have any nicknames?
- Where do you go to school?
- Do you have many close friends?
- What if your social media presence like?
- What kind of music do you listen to?

This game is great because you can use my suggestions, but you can also build off of this and develop your own characters and questions - this game could be constantly evolving! So fun! I have this one at the very top of my list for the Bean's next birthday! I think her friends are finally at an age where they will totally 'get' this game! I can't wait to see how it plays out!

Let me know if you have questions!
